The building houses the Supreme Court and several of its associated agencies. It first opened in 1933 as the Ohio Departments Building, and was considered “Ohio’s Pride”. However, the building’s glory faded, and for decades people walked by not knowing of the treasures within. The late Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer had the building updated, restored to its original glory, and rededicated as the home of the Supreme Court in 2004. Inside are monumental hallways and hearing rooms richly detailed with historical art, including outstanding examples of Art Deco and American Realism.
