Join us for VitV’s first Philosophy Coffee this October 27th at 10 AM. Philosophy Coffees are round-table events designed to give participants the opportunity to explore philosophical issues while sharing a cup of coffee. William is excited to bring Philosophy Coffees to VitV from Denison University, where as a student, he learned to plan and facilitate them. For our first Philosophy Coffee, he will be moderating a discussion on what it means to be happy. In other words, what is happiness? Is happiness reducible to pleasure, as the Hedonists suggest? Or is it something that one can achieve only through fulfilling one’s nature, as Aristotle suggests? In that vein, is happiness something obtainable – a state of being – or is it something that we must always strive for? What can we do to be happy?
Mostly likely, you’ll be leaving with more questions than you have answers. But don’t let that dissuade you, as the fun is just getting together with your neighbors and friends to discuss your ideas. So, if that’s something you’d be interested in, join William at Global Gallery Coffee Shop on Oct. 27th at 10 AM.
