Pros – Cons – Maintenance
- · steps to manage water on your property or in your neighborhood
- · clean water before it re-enters the natural system
- · provide a home for pollinators
- · enjoy some snacks
Rain gardens are a type of green infrastructure, a way to manage water by mimicking its natural cycle. While rain gardens seem relatively simple, their installation can be challenging. Though just a shallow basin that captures stormwater runoff, flow direction, excavation and layering of substrates, mulch, and soil -not to mention plantings- require the adaptation of any one of several recipes.
