A monthly meeting to discuss books: nonfiction and fiction, old and new. There is usually a monthly book recommendation, but sometimes we choose to just share whatever the individual participants have been reading.
This month's reading:
Golden Years: How Americans Invented and Reinvented Old Age,
by James Chappel (2024)
The author describes how "old age" first emerged as a distinct stage of life and how it evolved over the last century, shaped by politicians' choices, activists' demands, medical advancements, and cultural models from utopian novels to "The Golden Girls."
Hosted by Elise and Cal at their home. You will receive their address upon RSVPing.
